Oh Bru Bru...(my competition for my hubby's Best Friend)

This is Brutus Beefcake when he was just a puppy.

Here he is again...going potty...hmmm or smelling something.

This is Brutus today...not quite full grown but in his glory!

A close up...see he just likes to rest his fat cheeks on his ball. He wants you to throw it but he won't drop it so you can throw it!

And here he is in all his cuteness and the reason Bull Dogs are the "Bestest Dog in the hole wide werld" (as Love would say)

My hubby has always wanted a Bull Dog. He had 2 Boston Terriers when I met him. His buddy "Buster" died right before Love was born. She says all the time "Oh I miss Busta"...and I reply "but you didn't know Busta, you were still in my tummy" to that she says "oh yea I was just a little baby...I was sooooo cute".

So when Buster passed away of an enlarged heart, (no wonder he was the best dog and had the biggest bestest heart a dog could have) we got Rascal...another Boston Terrier...and we looked and looked before we found him. Kahlua (our other dog who was also a Boston) needed a friend...she didn't know what to do without Buster. So after many trips to different breeders we found Rascal. You see my hubby wanted a certain type of Boston Terrier...he loved Buster because he possessed a lot of the Bull Dog traits more so than the Terrier traits. Buster would follow hubby everywhere and nestle with him constantly...he was right there with him watching football, walking into the kitchen...you name it. Both him and Kahlua would sleep under the covers at the bottom of the bed and if he was sick in bed; Buster would hold his pee until hubby got up...they were that close. So as you can imagine it was a sad time when he passed.

Rascal was no Buster...but we fell in love with him and his crazy antics. He did grow into his name though that is for sure! But sadly God had better plans for him...and again my husband was devastated. I was devastated for the loss and to see my hubby in so much pain. He swore off dogs...decided that was it...Kahlua was going to be passing soon (she was 13) and we would just have our family...but that is not my hubby. He is meant to have a dog as his buddy...he needs it. So I researched and found a local breeder who was selling Bull Dogs...I wanted to surprise him but with the cost of the second mortgage to buy one I couldn't spend that much and not tell him. So I told him the news and he replied..."no more dogs" and I said "baby you need one...and it's a Bull Dog". Immediately he was online looking at pics and said "I want one...I really want one and we can get one" just like a little kid who was getting his first dog (best friend). So off we were to pick him out...I went first...he had some type of meeting but I couldn't be the deciding factor...I wanted them to meet and pick out each other...which they did and it was soooo great!

Brutus is the best dog...he truly is...He is not a replacement by any means but he sure makes it a little easier. I swear he has Buster's soul...that he some how knew my hubby couldn't go on with out him in his life...so he sent Brutus Beefcake as a constant reminder. (Can you believe I have tears welling up in my eyes as I type this...good grief...someone get a girl a tissue)

So in short (or long as this post is) this Post is for Brutus. Because he completes our family. He sometimes sleeps right next to our kids when they are sleeping on the floor (they love to sleep with each other and the floor is just soo much fun), or laying right next to my hubby's feet, follows us when we walk into the kitchen, gives us a shake when we tell him to sit (because the first step was sit and then shake if he wanted a cookie...now he does it like clock work), or just looks soooo damn cute when he is lying flat out on the tile floor with his tongue out of his mouth flat on the floor...He is Brutus Beefcake!!!

I can't imagine not ever having a dog. I think that we will always have dogs in our family. They are the best!

This has to be the sweetest post ever!!! I'm sure you know what we've been going through with our cat and I totally see where you are coming from. We have decided to give him a month to come home and then we'll make the decision then to either get another cat or dog. We have to do something so our Baxley (our 3 year old golden retriever) has someone to keep him company during the day.

And ~ Brutus is adorable!!!!
